Spring Surprises!

When we moved into our house it was July and I really despised most of the landscaping choices the previous owners had made. They filled the yard with these giant, ugly lily-type plants and lots of ferns and not much else. Don't get me wrong, I like a few things they left me with. I like the lilac bushes (one looks about 50 years old, the other a lot newer), the hibiscus, and I don't hate the rhododendrons. Additionally, in the fall I planted mums & asters with the hope they will come back this year so I'm patiently waiting for signs of life from them.

Recently, the weather has gotten warmer and it seems as though winter might be officially on its way out (thank goodness!) and a lot of plants I didn't know we have are starting to make their appearance! It's exciting because I have no idea what they are and when they are finally ready to bloom I'm going to be pleasantly surprised to see our yard full of happy colors! I like positive surprises and think this one is going to really make my spring extra special.
